Coach Corey’s wealth of knowledge is ubiquitous in the field of Strength & Conditioning due to his diverse involvement in various aspects of coaching in multi-disciplinary areas. He is highly regarded among his peers as one of WA’s leading Strength & Conditioning coaches.

Corey holds the highest form of qualification in this industry, a master’s degree in Strength & Conditioning. Corey is currently the head strength & conditioning coach at the West Perth Football Club, where he oversees all things related to performance. He also was a senior intern at the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) and implementing programs for elite athletic institutions like the Fremantle Dockers Football Club and the Canadian Olympic Centre.

Corey is currently a senior mentor for the Australian Strength & Conditioning Association assisting with the mentorship of Level 1 and Level 2 recipients of the qualification.

Holly Shawcross – Co-Founder & Managing Director // Strength & Conditioning Coach

Coach Holly is a highly recognised Strength & Conditioning coach yielding the highest form of qualification and certifications in this industry – a master’s degree in Strength & Conditioning from Edith Cowan University. Holly is mentored by Assoc/Prof. Greg Haff (the current president of the National Strength and Conditioning Association [NSCA]) agreed upon by most as one of the world’s leading and foremost authorities on Strength & Conditioning.

Holly is a national level competitive athlete in the sport of weightlifting, she is among the top five 53kg weightlifters in the country at the current date. Holly is also one of Australia’s leading athletes in the Women’s Figure division for various bodybuilding federations at state, national and world level.

Holly’s credentials include the Senior and Head Conditioning Coach for the West Australian National Football League Umpires Associated, the Senior Strength & Movement Coach for Yokine Archery and Archery WA.

Chris Ormsby – Exercise Physiologist

Coach Chris has been a leading personal trainer for over 8 years, developing a passion for understanding the human body and the development of strength, power, conditioning and overall performance.

Chris is a qualified Exercise Rehabilitation Consultant and an Accredited Clinical Exercise Physiologist. His expertise is training individuals suffering from acute and/or chronic ailments, illnesses or conditions. 

Chris has been a State Bodybuilder competer for many years in various federations. This has enabled Chris to develop his knowledge in the ‘artistry’ and ‘science’ of devising progressive resistance training plans to elicit true greatness on the competition stage.

Nhat Vu – Exercise Physiologist

Coach Nhat specialises in fundamental movement skills and uses his expertise in this area to devise exceptional exercise and sports specific tailored programs with true emphasises on improving performance both on and off the field, court or sporting ground.


Nhat boasts some incredible accolades including his employment as a Fundamental Movement and Skills Coach for UniActive in which he trained and still currently trains children ranging from 5 – 7 years of age – this is particularly important to the Institute’s Junior Athletic Development Progam.

Nhat has completed his Sports & Exercise Science degree from the University of Western Australia and is currently undertaking his post-graduate degree in Exercise Rehabilitation. On completion, he will be an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP), with a wealth of knowledge in human movement, strength and conditioning and exercise physiology.

Bryce Williamson –Strength and Conditioning Coach*

Bryce is currently undertaking the highest form of qualification in the industry, a Masters in Strength & Conditioning which he will complete in 2018. Bryce’s passion and pursuit for athletic development across a wide variety of sports has cemented him as an up and coming Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Bryce’s skill set can be described as a holistic approach to long term athletic development. Through research and experience he has come to the understanding that working with each athlete on an individual & personal level is the ideal way to develop their peak performance and athletic ability. Bryce has worked with field based athletes for the past year at Athletic Institute and understands what it takes to train athletes of all ages and training experience.

 Dr Daniel – Chief Medical Officer

MBBS  Bachelor of Medicine

Dr Daniel is a member of AI’s multidisciplinary team, providing AI staff and members advice on all things medical with a focus on evidence based practice.
Dr Daniel’s role includes overseeing training programs, to ensure optimal safety and health for all AI members. He will also be available to members to provide advice on the prevention and management of common injuries, as well as serious medical conditions, such as arthritis, heart disease, diabetes and many cancers.

Dr Daniel is a firm believer in the importance of physical activity in preventing and managing chronic disease, and wants to facilitate AI members in achieving optimal health and fitness. This is just another way Athletic Institute rAIses the bar and is a leader in the strength and conditioning field in Perth.
